Position Summary
The Bilingual Laundry Production Supervisor assists the Production/Plant Manager in organizing daily production activities and overseeing the production team. This hands-on position provides direction, training, and operational support to help meet daily production requirements while maintaining quality, housekeeping, and safety standards.
The supervisor must communicate effectively in English and Spanish, promote teamwork and accountability, and support the efficient operation of the facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Production/Plant Manager with daily operations and ensure assigned tasks are completed accurately and on time.
- Help coordinate employee assignments and production workflow based on daily demand and management direction.
- Provide clear instructions, coaching, and ongoing training in English and Spanish.
- Monitor daily production metrics and progress toward established goals; communicate delays, staffing concerns, and operational issues to the manager.
- Assist with evaluating work methods and equipment usage to improve labor utilization, production efficiency, and department expenses.
- Maintain proficiency in production tasks and work alongside employees as needed to meet operational demands.
- Reinforce established procedures for linen handling, washing, drying, finishing, folding, packing, and staging.
- Weigh and record incoming soiled linen upon arrival at the facility, documenting the customer, date, and net linen weight.
- Weigh and record finished linen once processing is complete and the product is ready for delivery, documenting the customer, date, and net linen weight.
- Monitor finished linen quality and assist with identifying, separating, and documenting items requiring reprocessing.
- Help maintain a clean, organized work environment and ensure housekeeping responsibilities are completed.
- Reinforce safety procedures and promptly report hazards, equipment malfunctions, and unsafe work practices.
- Promote respectful communication, teamwork, and accountability; communicate performance concerns to the Production/Plant Manager.
Required Qualifications
- Previous supervisory experience in a production, manufacturing, warehouse, or similar operational environment.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish, with the ability to communicate instructions and provide employee training in both languages.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and support a production team.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to monitor production goals, recognize operational concerns, and communicate them promptly.
- Ability to work collaboratively and adjust priorities based on production demand.
- Ability to use a computer to enter production data, maintain accurate records, and complete required reports.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous supervisory experience in a commercial or industrial laundry facility.
- Familiarity with commercial laundry equipment, linen processing, quality control, and production metrics.
Physical Requirements
- The position requires the ability to perform essential job duties, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:
- Standing and walking for extended periods.
- Sitting, bending, stooping, reaching, and grasping as tasks require.
- Pushing, pulling, and maneuvering loaded laundry carts weighing up to 500 pounds.
- Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 60 pounds.
- Performing repetitive movements while handling and processing linen.
Work Environment
- Work takes place in a commercial laundry facility with variations in temperature and exposure to humidity, odors, lint, dust, and equipment noise. Employees must follow facility safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment.
