Marina Captain
Basic Function:
Responsible for safe, enjoyable and USCG compliant operation of resort vessels. Supervise maintenance and all repair/improvement work performed on board yachts. Maintain cost and quality controls of the resort that pertain to the yacht experience. Daily flow of cruise procedures, including preparation and clean up / shutdown routine.
Work Performed:
- Maintain Regular and Charter schedule of Yacht cruises with attention to departure time and return time.
- Prepare for and maintain current standards of USCG inspections as required by COI’s or Captained commercial vessels.
- Ensure safe operation of vessels; safety of passengers.
- Perform daily inspections of vessels to maintain all systems in good order.
- Maintain log of all operations: Cruises, maintenance items, any events.
- Discuss vessel operation, area landmarks, and marine environment with passengers.
- Enter and create reservations in systems.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Assist with launching of paddle craft.
- Assist with docking vessels for guests.
- Distribution of equipment for guests.
- Perform other projects or duties assigned by the Marina Manager.
- Maintain daily communication with Marina office, front office and Dockmaster to keep vital information concerning yachts and cruise schedules valid and current.
- Report operation discrepancies to the Marina Manager immediately.
- Comply with all federal and state laws.
Supervision Exercised:
Yacht crewmembers and any hotel employees scheduled for cruise. Passengers as necessary for safety.
Supervision Received:
Marina Director/Lead Dock Associate
Responsibility & Authority:
- Ensures proper yachting experience for guests and employees.
- Ensures safety and security of yachts.
- Maintains confidentiality of all USCG information, drug screening program, EAP and other privileged information.
- Maintain good communication with Marina Manager, Front office and other mangers and employees.
- Organization and sanitation of mooring area and vessels.
- Represent the department and resort in a positive manner.
- Prepare for various weather conditions.
- Motivate fellow Captains in conjunction with Marina Director and/or other managers.
Minimum Requirements:
- USCG Master's license and MROP.
- Good communication skills (written and verbal), computer knowledge or ability/willingness to learn.
- Documented sea time and references.
- Prior Passenger vessel or hotel experience a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.

- Manual Dexterity and the ability to work in all types of weather conditions.
