STATUS:               Temporary/Non-Exempt/ Hourly

REPORTS TO:      Human Resources Manager 

SCHEDULED HOURS: 8:30 A.M. – 5:00 P.M.; Monday through Friday

Job Summary:                           

The Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Human Resources department with administrative functions including recruitment, onboarding, development and training, performance management, compensation, benefits and employee relations initiatives.  The Human Resource Coordinator will ensure superior levels of service to current and potential team members of the hotel.  The Human Resources Coordinator is required to adhere to the Tides Inn standards.  

Essential Job Functions:

The Human Resources Coordinator is focused and responsible for the following:

  • Servers as initial contact to employees and delivers superior service. 
  • Provides all administrative support for the Human Resources Department in a highly confidential manner. 
  • Administers pre-employment processes including conditional hourly job offers and background screen processing. 
  • Assists in processing all new hire paperwork in HRIS system.
  • Sets up team members with time clock badge information. 
  • Provides a positive customer service experience for all hotel managers and team members.  
  • Ensure that all information is kept confidential.
  • Make, distribute, and track name badges. 
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of HR office and files.
  • Directs inquires to appropriate HR rep or department head.
  • Assists with team member housing needs including room preparation, entering maintenance requests, and room assignments. 
  • Performs pre-employment background checks for all new hires per company policy & procedure.
  • Prepares and maintains team members’ personnel files to maintain compliance.
  • Processes employment verifications as received.
  • Assists with sending new hires information on benefits, new hire forms as needed.
  • Onboarding team members and reviewing new hire paperwork as needed.
  • Assists with generating or editing HR Forms as needed.
  • Assists with new hire orientation according to the Tides Inn standards. 
  • Publish and distribute employee newsletter.
  • Assists in team member communication channels including posting and updating on HR and Tides Inn team member bulletin boards. 
  • Plans, assists, and actively participates in team member events and planning committee initiatives. 
  • Comply with all department, hotel and company policies and procedures.
  • Perform any assigned task not outlined above that the team member can perform.
  • Must adhere to all company policies and procedures as well as the Tides Inn Employee Handbook. 
  • Assists others as needed and special projects, as necessary.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the HR Director.

 Qualification Summary:                                                                       

Education & Experience:

  • Associate degree in business administration or human resources. 
  • One year of experience in office management, human resources OR, an equivalent level of education and experience.
  • Hospitality experience preferred.
  • Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and possess basic mathematical skills 
    • Reading, Writing, Basic Math
    • Computer skills 
    • Brand systems

  • Frequently stand, walk or sit for extended periods.   Long and varied hours are often required (8 hours).

  • Light Work - Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly, both oral and written in English. 
  • Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately
  • Must be able to work well in stressful, high-pressure situations including the ability to handle employee complaints and disputes while resolving them even if the situation did not begin with them.
  • Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.  Must be respectful and maintain a calm demeanor.
  • Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding and clarifying concerns and issues raised by team members.
  • Must be able to work with a myriad of personalities and levels within the hotel and outside sources.
