Description

Basic Function: Lead hiking excursions and provide instruction to guests on the trails. Responsible for providing a safe, motivating and nurturing environment for exercising and learning, that exceeds guest’s expectations

Work Performed:

  1. Lead hiking excursions and provide instruction to guests on safety and trails
  2. Arrive to work thirty minutes prior to starting time wearing your nametag and proper uniform to ensure ready to transport guests
  3. Attend and participate in regularly scheduled training sessions and meetings
  4. Be an active participant in the department by contributing to new programs and development within the department
  5. Must be guest service oriented and interact with guests in a pleasant, helpful, knowledgeable and enthusiastic manner
  6. Perform excursions in a safe manner in compliance with all recognized standards set by the resort’s permit and the US Forest Service
  7. Ensure proper supplies are gathered for each hiking excursion including, water, sign in log, and all related safety equipment
  8. Provide clear and appropriate directions to guests for overall safety
  9. Be familiar with local hiking trail conditions, hazards and any changes that have been made by the US Forest Service so the resort’s hiking permit is not violated
  10. Display appropriate teamwork, flexibility and interpersonal skills
  11. Follow all Department Standard Operating Procedures at all times
  12. Responsible for providing a safe, clean, personal, entertaining and well thought out hike that exceeds guest’s expectations
  13. Maintain participant attendance and liability waiver information
  14. Maintain a clean driving record
  15. Ensure proper tools and equipment is purchased for safety with manager
  16. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or GED, and/or equivalent work experience. Attention to detail and able to multi-task many priorities. Self motivated ability to work with little supervision and organized. Must be dependable. Knowledge of trails and area. Must maintain current CPR and First Aid certification. Willing to learn instruction methods. Ability to lead guests in excursion in safe and professional manner. Must be at least 21 years old and have a clean driving record. Must display a healthy well-balanced body, a neat appearance, and a caring attitude and ability to communicate clearly and simply. Safety sensitive position.

  • 100% Walking, standing & bending
  • Lifting/Carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Hearing and Manual dexterity
  • Ability to work in all types of weather conditions
  • Ability to drive van if necessary (clean MVD record required)
