Description

Basic Function:

Lead fitness classes and provide instruction to guests in the gym area. Responsible for providing a safe, clean, organized, motivating and nurturing environment for exercising and learning, that exceeds guest’s expectations. Teach a variety of classes (dance, sculpt, yoga, Bosu, Tai Chi, stretch, aqua fitness, pilates, etc.)

Work Performed:

  • Lead fitness classes as described above and provide instruction to guests in the gym area
  • Effectively communicate the spas health and fitness philosophy to guests
  • Understand anatomy and physiology
  • Arrive to work fifteen minutes prior to starting time wearing your nametag and proper uniform to ensure ready for guests
  • Attend and participate in regularly scheduled training sessions and meetings
  • Be an active participant in the department by contributing to new programs and development ideas
  • Be guest service oriented and interact with guests in a pleasant, helpful, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic manner
  • Perform classes and sessions in a safe manner in compliance with all recognized standards
  • Ensure proper supplies are gathered for each class or session including, sign in log, and all related safety equipment
  • Provide clear and appropriate directions to guests for overall safety
  • Display appropriate teamwork, flexibility and interpersonal skills
  • Follow all Department standards of operations at all times
  • Provide a safe, clean, personal, entertaining and well thought out class or session that exceeds guest’s expectations
  • Maintain participant attendance information
  • Keep all fitness space and storage areas neat and maintained
  • Keep closets straightened and Movement Studio clean with all lights and microphones turned off when not in use
  • Ensure proper tools and equipment are purchased for safety with manager
  • Maintain confidentiality of Mii amo information at all times
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or GED, and/or equivalent work experience. Group Fitness Instructor or Personal Training or Registered Yoga Teacher certification is required. More than one certification is preferred. 1-3 years recent experience teaching group exercise classes. Ability to confidently lead and motivate a group. Ability to assess the fitness level and special needs of the class participants and modify the class accordingly. Attention to detail and able to multi-task many priorities. Self motivated ability to work with little supervision and organized. Must be dependable. Must maintain current CPR and First Aid certification. Willing to learn instruction methods. Ability to lead guests in safe and professional manner. Must display a healthy well-balanced body, a neat appearance, a caring attitude and the ability to communicate clearly and simply.

Physical Requirements:

  • 5% Sitting
  • 95% walking, standing & bending including exercise for specific class or session
  • Lifting/carrying up to 40 lbs.
  • Hearing and manual dexterity
  • Ability to work in all types of weather conditions
