Job Description

The Executive Director of Information Technology (ED of IT) is responsible for establishing the company’s technology vison and overseeing all aspects of the company’s technology development and partnering. The ideal ED of IT will be the company’s top technology executive. S/he will play an integral role in the company’s strategic direction, will be the external face of the company's technology platform, and will be an evangelist to developers, customers, and employees as well as standards organizations. A major focus of the role will be to ensure future growth through adoption of the Company’s differentiated security and authentication solutions in our chosen markets. The ED of IT will be up to date with trends in security technology including competitive solutions and will be familiar with related markets. S/he will be the keeper of a rolling 3-year IT road map to lead the company into a direction of enhanced systems, enhanced reporting for the purpose of enabling senior management to make decisions to the benefit of the company and ultimately the guest experience. A critical part of this role is to communicate IT matters to senior and operational management and to drive the execution of all IT projects.

Responsibilities

  • Primarily concerned with long-term and "big picture" issues while still having deep technical knowledge in the relevant fields of security and authentication for Enterprise
  • Lead the execution of technology strategy for technology platforms, partnerships, and external relationships
  • Be the Company’s technology evangelist
  • Work with property teams to ensure continuous improvement of systems for the benefit of running the business and enhancing the guest experience
  • Directs the activities necessary to keep the technology infrastructure running seamlessly, efficiently, and effectively while ensuring compliance with established standards and policies.
  • Maintain current information about technology standards and compliance regulations
  • Manage research and development 
  • Represent the Company by participating in standards organizations and meetings
  • Anticipate and react to major technology changes to ensure company leadership given the competitive landscape
  • Maintain an active relationship with all brand technology divisions in order to best direct the company’s technology decisions in an effort to standardize as efficiently as possible. 
  • Direct strategic design, acquisition, management and implementation of enterprise-wide technology infrastructure
  • Remain current in the utilization of technology in the field of hospitality by attending training sessions, seminars and workshops
  • Prepare and monitor a disaster recovery, including backups of critical servers
  • Develop and lead a team of IT staff members 

 

Required Attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Information Technology or a related field, or appropriate combination of education and experience to support on the job effectiveness
  • Great verbal and written communication skills
  • A drive to execute on all IT projects
  • Solid understanding of LAN/WAN networks; Capability for analyzing PC connectivity issues (i.e.: client/server architecture)
  • A minimum of 5 years’ previous executive level experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft infrastructures services and server systems
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, MS Exchange, MS ISA and group policy; Knowledge of hotel associated systems and telephone systems will also be beneficial
  • In depth knowledge of virtualization technologies
  • Ability to connect quickly and communicate effortlessly with users at all levels                            
  • Demonstrated success in interfacing with a variety of organizational functions and divisions to accomplish tasks and assignments
  • Reliable and responsible character, with exceptional follow up and attention to detail
  • Proactive approach, with exceptional problem solving abilities to ensure the highest levels of productivity and guest satisfaction
  • Ability to work effectively as an independent contributor, and as a part of a collaborative team
  • Ability to multi-task and effectively manage numerous priorities within a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to travel frequently and for extended periods of time when necessary
  • Flexibility and availability to work extended or irregular hours to include nights, weekends and holidays, if necessary
