Description
Basic Function: Manage Security and Loss Prevention Department in accordance within Resort standards, direct, implement, and maintain a service and management philosophy which serves as a guide to the respective staff
Work Performed:
  1. Communicate with guests, management and co-workers to their fullest understanding
  2. Provide legible communication
  3. Monitor and control the maintenance and repair of safety related equipment to ensure constant emergency readiness
  4. Enforce resort standards, policies and procedures with the staff
  5. Create and maintain a positive work environment to ensure an excellent work relationship with other departments and to ensure exceeding guests expectations
  6. Analyze and resolve problems pertaining to resort standards and security
  7. Prioritize, organize and delegate work assignments
  8. Direct performance of staff and follow up with corrections where needed
  9. Train and motivate staff on a daily basis to maintain a cohesive team
  10. Maintain confidentiality of all guest, employee and resort information
  11. Develop safety, security and emergency procedures/action plan for the resort and monitor program implementation in order to protect guests and staff and secure the assets and minimize losses
  12. Investigate, analyze and report on all incidents and accidents
  13. Liaise between the resort and local and federal law enforcement agencies, fire companies and insurance agents to resolve problems and maintain good working relationships
  14. Maintain attention to detail by doing daily rounds of the guest rooms, public areas and back of the house areas to ensure a safe and well-kept work environment
  15. Maintain professional and courteous demeanor with demanding or difficult guests or situations
  16. Manage and maintain an effective key control system for entire property
  17. Maintain excellent communication with all other departments in regards to their safety and security needs
  18. Ensure that all special guest needs/complaints are met and resolved in a timely manner
  19. Hold meetings on a regular basis to ensure that goals in training, safety and all security functions are being met and to maintain a high level of moral
  20. Effectively write routine reports and correspondence
  21. Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
  22. Manage staffing levels, scheduling, evaluating and disciplining departmental team members as required
  23. Manage employee payroll processes
  24. Control expenses related to department
  25. Ensure grooming and dress codes are maintained by department
  26. Other duties as assigned
Supervision Exercised: Security Officers, Security Supervisor
Supervision Received: Director of Resort Operations
Responsibility & Authority:
  1. Interface effectively with all department and provide support to all managers as necessary
  2. Plan and execute safety training for all staff members
  3. Successfully address insurance safety requirements and recommendations
  4. Devise and implement safety culture within organization by leading safety committee and implementing safety programs
  5. Assist managers with all resort safety and security and take necessary steps to correct deficiencies
  6. Conduct monthly property safety inspection and required walk through with the insurance company.
  7. Monitor postage meter for funding levels and ensure processing of all incoming and outgoing mail.
  8. Maintain a high level of guest service at all times in all guest services areas
  9. Uphold the resort commitment to hospitality
  10. Act as Manager on Duty as necessary
  11. Work closely with all departments to ensure guest service levels are being met
  12. Deal effectively with all departments with regular communication
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree from four-year College or university or equivalent work related experience and/or training. 5+ years related experience in a resort/hotel environment preferred in a supervisory capacity. Must have exceptional organizational skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to perform and prioritize multiple tasks with ease. Computer skills required. Strong guest and team member relations skills. Must have the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in various situations. Must be certified in CPR/ First Aid for children & infants. Safety sensitive position.
