Director of Engineering | Resort Operations

We are seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to lead all maintenance, landscaping, and engineering functions across the resort. This role is responsible for ensuring that all facilities—interior and exterior—are maintained at the highest standards to provide a safe, comfortable, and efficient environment for both guests and team members.

The ideal candidate will oversee mechanical systems, utilities, structural maintenance, and preventative maintenance programs while leading a skilled engineering team and ensuring operational excellence across the property.

Key Responsibilities

Facility Operations

  • Lead and manage maintenance, landscaping, and engineering operations across the resort.

  • Ensure all facilities and infrastructure are maintained to the highest operational standards.

Utilities & Mechanical Systems

  • Oversee all utility systems including electrical, gas, water, and sewer.

  • Manage the operation and maintenance of HVAC, ventilation, heating, and refrigeration systems.

Property & Structural Maintenance

  • Ensure proper upkeep of buildings, structures, furnishings, fixtures, and installed equipment.

Vendor & Contractor Management

  • Source, select, and manage vendors and contractors while ensuring compliance with contracts, service agreements, and warranties.

Budget & Resource Management

  • Assist in the preparation and oversight of capital expenditure and maintenance budgets.

  • Monitor expenses and ensure efficient use of resources.

Preventive Maintenance & Projects

  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for property equipment and vehicles.

  • Coordinate service requests and schedule engineering projects to minimize disruption to guests and operations.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the engineering team while fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.

Compliance & Safety

  • Maintain accurate operational and utility records.

  • Monitor energy usage and efficiency.

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, fire safety standards, and other safety requirements.

Emergency Preparedness

  • Coordinate emergency response plans including fire, flood, and other critical incidents in collaboration with internal teams and external agencies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Formal training in HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, building systems, or construction preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in engineering within a hotel, resort, hospital, or large commercial facility.

  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency with engineering and facilities management systems.
