How you will enjoy your day: Oversee and manage the Trail House Activities, Artist Cottage, Camp Coyote, tennis, racket sports, 3rd party partnerships, Dark Sky, TH talks and nocturnal activities (dark sky, talks, games) and holiday programming etc. Develops and implements programs, projects, special events and activities designed to increase revenue and enhance guests’ experience.

Work Performed:

  1. Supervise all Trail House, Artist Cottage, and activities departments to ensure compliance with the resorts’ leadership objectives, policies and procedures
  2. Evaluate and create new programming as needed
  3. Partner with Mii amo to attract guest to TH and Artist Cottage or any other activities.
  4. Ensure that the department’s profitability objectives are met or exceeded. 
  5. Supervise all training programs in accordance with the product description
  6. Know all safety and emergency procedures for guests/team members and how to act upon them
  7. Understand accident reporting and prevention policies
  8. Implement ongoing training programs for guide knowledge, safety and guest relations
  9. Interview, hire, review performance and handle personnel disciplinary actions as necessary
  10. Interact with fellow managers for ideas for resort activities and promotion of the programs and activities 
  11. Ensure proper procedures of cash handling & payment for services received are being followed
  12. Responsible for scheduling all events to optimize adventure bookings. 
  13. Ability to work with the Sales Department to develop special activities for group participation to maximize additional revenues for the resort and to enhance the guests’ experience
  14. Coordinate all indoor and outdoor activities for all ages of the resorts guests and ability to interact with guests during the day
  15. Create special programming 
  16. Facilitate and confirm any private activities requests from guests or groups
  17. Create, implement and maintain the Children’s Program within the resorts standards and comply with all legal issues
  18. Overall responsibility for supplies related to activities programs 
  19. Responsible for Tennis, Hike & Bike, and Camp Coyote payroll and invoicing of all contractors
  20. Oversees relationship with the US Forest Service and reporting requirements connected to the resort’s permit.
  21. Oversees Grand Canyon relationship, ensure compliance with National Park regulations and reporting.
  22. Oversees contributions to the Boynton Canyon Preservation Fund and facilitating where and how those funds are utilized.
  23. Prepare budgets and monitor expenses for department 
  24. Other duties as assigned

Supervision Received: Managing Director/General Manager

Responsibility & Authority:

  1. Ability to deal effectively with all departments 
  2. Maintain outside business contacts within the community to include associations that relate to the Activities area
  3. Represent the resort for outside vendor Orientations and meetings

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree from four-year College or university or equivalent experience. Prior hotel/resort activities or fitness experience preferred. General background in recreation and child development helpful. Knowledge of hotel operations and activities beneficial. Must have strong organizational skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to perform and prioritize multiple tasks with ease. Computer skills required. Strong team member relations skills. Must be certified in CPR/ First Aid for children & infants. Safety sensitive position.
