How you will enjoy your day: Perform, manage or supervise engineering operations in the evenings for exterior and interior facilities including electrical, refrigeration, plumbing, heating, cooling, construction, structural, waste treatment plant, vehicle and other engineering work necessary to maintain the property in an optimum and efficient condition. Also, ensures the safety and comfort of the guests and team members.

Work Performed:

1. Oversees and manage the maintenance team, assigning tasks and ensuring proper outcome of the work 

Maintain and oversee all utility systems, i.e. electrical, gas, water, sewer, T.V., television

2. Maintain and operate and oversee air conditioning, heating, ventilation and refrigeration systems

3. Maintain structures, furniture, fixtures and installed equipment

4. Monitor and coordinate the services performed by outside contractors in accordance to all contracts, leases, service agreements and warranties

5. Ensure timely response to requests for service by guests, employees and management

6. Schedule all work to be done on a daily basis at a minimum of inconvenience to the guests and employees

7. Work effectively with employees and assign the most qualified person for the job

8. Assist with energy management program

9. Maintain appropriate equipment operating logs and utility consumption records

10. Purchase replacement or repair materials to maintain buildings, equipment and vehicles

11. Install equipment and replacement recommendations for worn out or model equipment and vehicles

12 Maintain a clean and orderly work area free of hazards and ensure staff adhere to safety guidelines

15. Assist Director of Engineering with expenses

16. Ensure staff are adhering to service standards and resort policies 

17. Responsible for staffing levels, scheduling, evaluating and disciplining departmental team members as required

18. Hold PM department meetings to review resort events, departmental policies and procedures 

19. Ensure that all master keys are properly used and maintained by engineering staff

20. Maintain availability at all times in case emergency situations occur at the resort

21. Coordinate emergency, fire and flood programs with the appropriate departments and outside entities 

22. Other duties as assigned

Responsibility & Authority:

  1. Responsible for day to day operations and preventative maintenance(PM) programs
  2. Responsible for the training of all staff in department to ensure service standards and resort policies are met; responsible for compliance and safety training of staff
  3. Manage and supervise daily engineering operations and staff
  4. Maintain a high level of guest service at all times in all guest services areas
  5. Upholds the resort commitment to hospitality
  6. Work closely with all departments to ensure guest service levels are being met
  7. Deal effectively with all departments with regular communication

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree from four-year College or university; or equivalent related work related experience and/or training. Formal training in the following: refrigeration, plumbing, air conditioning, building and construction. Prefer 3+ years’ prior supervisory skills and work experience in mechanical trades with hotel/resort, hospitals or large buildings. Must have strong organizational skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to perform and prioritize multiple tasks with ease. Computer skills required. Strong guest and team member relations skills. Must maintain current CPR and First Aid certification. Safety sensitive position.
